Panama-born, Brooklyn-raised Jahphet Negast Landis (also known as Roofeeo) is a Multi-Instrumentalist, DJ and Music Producer. At a young age, when he discovered that he possessed a natural gift for playing musical instruments, he instinctively gravitated towards the drums. In his early twenties, after a year of touring with The Death Set, the band moved to Philadelphia and took over Spank Rock’s former residence. Fortuitously, Spank Rock had left behind 2 Technic 1210's and an Elcer DJ mixer, and Roofeeo took that as an obvious sign to learn how to spin/mix records. So began Roofeeo's journey as a DJ. Fast forward to today, and it’s easy to catch him spinning a party in some of NYC, Paris and London's hottest nightspots, curating the vibe at events for some of the worlds biggest brands.
For almost a decade Jahphet has worked with an array of talented artist that cross, merge and blur genres, including Kanye West, Björk, Diplo, The DeathSet, Ninjasonik, Theophilus London, Lil B, XXXchange, Spank Rock, Santigold, Rejjie Snow, Switch, and more. In 2011, Jahphet was invited to sit in on drums for a few SXSW concerts with critically acclaimed art-rockers TV On the Radio. Soon after, he was honored to become the band's permanent drummer.
Today, Jahphet is a much sought-after musician with global recognition. As a Music Producer and Music Director, he's made a name for himself assembling/leading bands for Asher Roth and Willis Earl Beal. His recent radio record for Troy Ave "All About The Money" dropped in November 2014 and with the original piano-laced beat produced by Roofeeo, it became the hottest instrumental to sample, getting remixes by G-Unit, Rick Ross, Raekwon, and Ghostface Killa. Among other musical projects, he's currently a member and Music Director of New York-based band Dreamshow.
